![]() John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace, from him who is and who was and who is to come and from the seven spirits that are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ (Rev. The expression “seven spirits” is found only in the book of Revelation, and then just four times. Throughout Revelation, Jesus repeatedly declares that He is the First and the Last.“What are the ‘seven spirits’ mentioned in the book of Revelation?” This passage removes all doubt that Jesus Christ is equating Himself with God – just as all of scripture testifies. "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." Each of these point to the deity of Christ. He is the eternal Christ, the Almighty, the Word of God and the First and the Last. We could spend weeks examining each of these attributes in detail, however, in this portion of our Revelation study, I want to examine three of these that I believe all the other attributes are founded upon. He holds the keys to death and hades (vs. He lives, was dead and is alive again (vs. He washed us from our sins with His own blood (vs. He holds the angels of the seven churches (vs. He is eternal - was, is and is to come (vs. He is the Alpha and the Omega Beginning and the End First and the Last (vs. He is the Ruler over the kings of the earth (vs. In the early chapters of the Book of Revelation, several things are revealed about Jesus Christ: When Christ is revealed, every eye will see Him, His glory revealed and He will be known as He truly is. We will cover this in greater detain when we look at the 1,000 year reign of Christ. Daniel 7:12 tells us that the remnant of the Anti-Christ’s kingdom will lose their dominion but will have their lives spared for a period of time. The remnant of Israel will then repent and accept Jesus Christ as their Messiah and Savior. They will then understand that they crucified their Messiah and they will “mourn as one who mourns over the loss of a firstborn son”. The Bible tells us that they will see Christ whom they have pierced and inquire about His wounds. In the previous section, we saw that the tribes of the earth are the Israelites. These two passages refer to the same event from two different perspectives. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed. Even so, Amen.Ĩ "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."Ĭompare this to the Old Testament prophecy of Daniel 7:ġ3 " I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him.ġ4 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Now continue with Revelation 1:ħ Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. He came as a servant to call the church to follow, but when He returns, He will come as the King of kings. Every knee will bow in heaven, earth, and under the earth and every tongue will confess Him as Lord. However, when He returns, the veil will be removed and His glory will be revealed. ![]() He veiled Himself at His first appearance so that He could accomplish His purpose of dying on the cross for our sins. Philippians 2 tells us that even though Jesus was in the form of God, He humbled Himself, took on the role of a bondservant and the appearance of man. The book of Revelation gives a glimpse of the things that will soon come to pass, but the ultimate purpose is ‘The Revelation Jesus Christ’. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants - things which must shortly take place. The first phrase of the first verse of the book of Revelation identifies the central theme of this book:
